March 4, 2020
Field corn is infrequently discussed in Extension publications, even though ºÚÁÏÍø farmers use the southern-grown crop for livestock feed. Grown along the Snake River Plain in southern ºÚÁÏÍø, it's a warm-season product, requiring arid-climate irrigation and frost-free growing conditions; it also needs time to dry in the field. This timely publication discusses field corn harvest recommendations in ºÚÁÏÍø, including ideal soil depth and temperature at planting, how to maximize yields at harvest and how to maintain feed quality in storage.
